The sub-$50 iFrogz Impulse Duo Wireless and InTone Wireless earbuds, introduced here, have spent the last month (+) stuffed into my earholes. While there, these earbuds provided hours of listening enjoyment as well as being an integral part of a few hands-free phone calls. Now, it’s time to find out how well these earbuds performed.
As mentioned in the introduction, these latest earbuds, like previous models, are priced to sell. The Impulse Duo Wireless is priced at $44.99, and the new InTone Wireless is priced at the very wallet-friendly price of $29.99. What does one get for so little scratch?
Impulse Duo Wireless
For the 45 bucks spent on the Impulse Duo, one gets a basic, but rockin’ set of Bluetooth wireless earbuds. Basic, because that is what the Impulse Duo does. It has all the bases covered; solid, well balanced sound (more on this in a second), decent microphone, decent call quality, but nothing super exciting to report except one thing. The one thing of note here is mentioned right in the name, and that is the duo thing. Housed within each earbud is two six millimeter dynamic drivers. The sound these deliver is indeed solid and well balanced, but it is almost on par with earbuds costing twice as much, so there’s that. For bass-heavy beats, it would be best to look elsewhere, but for everything else, it would be difficult to do better than the Impulse Duo Wireless earbuds.

InTone Wireless
Instead of the (modified) nozzle-style shape of the Impulse Duo, which gets inserted into the opening of the ear canal, the InTone earbuds are the on-ear, wear-style shape that rest on the outer concha ridge of the ear. This is especially handy for those of us who cannot, for a variety of reasons, use nozzle-style earbuds. Inside each glossy earbud enclosure is an impressive 14mm driver. Sound comes out through two ports in the slim enclosure and it usually sounds pretty darn good, too. Despite these big drivers, though, a whole heap of bass should not be expected from the InTone Wireless earbuds. Instead, as with the Impulse Duo, the sound is clear and nicely balanced. On top of everything else, the InTone Wireless earbuds are super lightweight. The lack of heft helps make them almost imperceptible to the wearer and very comfortable.

Both sets of earbuds charge quickly, usually in a couple hours, both will provide approximately 10 hours of playback and both have proven themselves as fantastically sweat resistant (think skateboarding on a 100°F day). The hub that controls volume/track/pause/call/end call is sheathed in a supple soft-touch silicone material and it features a powerful magnetic clip which is quite handy for securing the hub to a shirt collar for those times you are not dancing naked while vacuuming the living room.
