Back in January, BrotherFatherFellow got a hold of a set of GO wireless speakers from Fugoo. These new speakers marked a bit of a departure from the designs offered previously by the company. Gone was the jacket+core design. Gone, too, was the speaker body that houses speakers all the way around the unit. Though different, to be sure, the new design has proven itself to be as loud and everything-proof as previous Fugoo speakers. Additionally, Fugoo has added some pretty nifty pairing technology making it possible to pair up a set of GOs for either a wall of sound or genuine stereo separation.
Enter the Style-S. The Style-S follows the departure embarked upon by the GO but with what appears to be a focus on home use. It is, in a word, stylish. The polycarbonate and glass fiber case is wrapped in a handsome and, presumably, rugged cloth-like material that helps warm up the look of the otherwise dark, airtight body.
This airtight, IP67 rated body, which floats, by the way, houses two 47mm full-range drivers and two 68mm x 115mm bass radiators. The Style-S, thanks to the audio wizards at Fugoo, features a Digital Signal Processor that adjusts the bass, mid-range, and highs as the overall volume is raised or lowered. This processor helps keep the audio optimized whether rocking out to Fugazi or waking gently to Erik Satie. More on this in the upcoming review of the Fugoo Style-S.
Specifications
The Style weighs in at just under a pound and half and measures 8.3” W x 2.5” D x 2.9” H. The IP67 rated body is dust-, snow-, dirt-, and waterproof (up to 3 feet deep for up to 30 minutes). Sound volume up to 93 dB is pumped out through two 10 watt channels with the active drivers angled up at 8 degrees for better sound dispersion.
The Style-S can play at 50% loudness for up to 15 hours with battery life being displayed on supported devices. Power is stored and delivered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. Charging duties are handled either by the included Micro-USB cable or the Fugoo AC adapter, which is also included. Using the AC adapter makes for a charging time of only 3.5 hours.
Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 4.2 and is supposed to be good up to 33 feet indoors and 100 feet outdoors. The Style-S features the full alphabet of remote control profiles including: the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP 1.5), Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP 1.3), Hands Free Profile (HFP 1.6), and Headset Profile (HSP 1.2 ). The Style-S also features a 3.5mm stereo input if you really feel like plugging something in.
There is, of course, a whole slew of accessories available from Fugoo to help make the Style-S more portable. Please check back in a few weeks for the full review of the new Fugoo Style-S. For pricing and purchasing information, click here.
