Oh man, where to start? Singing in the shower? Check. Blasting the Cro-Mags at the skatepark? Check. Netflix and chill? Totally. The Fugoo GO is just that versatile. In a nutshell, it is small enough to go anywhere, tough enough to not worry about, loud enough to bring a smile to your face, and best of all, at a suggested 99 bucks, it’s affordable.
The GO is designed to be paired with another GO, and as luck would have it, BFF scored two for this review. Right up front, it became apparent that the GO was a very good speaker on its own. It can get seriously loud while remaining clear and crisp. It could use a touch more bass for my taste, but the sound is generally well-balanced throughout the volume range. When the GO is paired up in stereo mode, however, is when the fun really begins. Find something, chill and trippy like the Gold Panda currently playing on this pair of GOs and ease into the day with music that shifts and slides back and forth between the speakers, samples clicking and popping along, in one ear and out the other. The Fugoo GO is wireless stereo done so right.
All this stereo goodness is delivered by two 52mm drivers and two 62mm x 36mm bass radiators per unit. If a wall of sound instead of stereo separation is required, Fugoo GO can do that too. Set to dual mode, the paired GOs deliver twice the sound of a single one and the sound simply rips. At the aforementioned skatepark, tunes can be heard loudly and clearly across the entire park. Nice.
As mentioned above, the GO is both tough and waterproof. Though it pained me every time I did it, this pair of Gos have been pushed off of desks and countertops, dipped in the tub and dangled in the shower all for the sake of proof of concept. The result? Nothing. Nothing happened. When dropped, the GO bounces. In the tub, the GO makes ripples. In the shower, the GO makes no judgments.
During the review period, which spans about a month, the pair of GOs saw lots of action indoors and out and pushed a lot of music, from classical to electronica, from opera to hip-hop, you name it. At no time was there ever any doubt about the performance of the GO speakers; the batteries lasted longer than expected, the sound never faltered, and the bass never farted. No matter what was being played or where, this pair of Fugoo GO wireless speakers met, and generally exceeded, all expectations. For more information about Fugoo speakers, click here.
