Sure, subscription box clothing services can be convenient, heck, they can even be fun, and some of them are even a bargain, but none of them are quite like 8/Omakase. 8/Omakase is a clothing subscription box service that delivers made-to-measure apparel twice per quarter for $300. Drink that in for a moment, $300 for custom, made-to-measure clothing, delivered to your door twice per quarter. This ain’t no funny sock box or cute underpants delivery service, this is absolutely smashing clothes made by hand to your exact specifications delivered in a fancy box.
As is evident, this is going to be one of those reviews where a lot of gushing takes place. Why? Mostly because of my expectations and how they were blown completely out of the water.
Starting at the top, we have the shirt. While this shirt may look like any other shirt, it is anything but. Everything about it is exquisite. The shirt features almost imperceptible single-needle stitching, a crisp standard placket, elegantly thin buttons, a sharp spread collar, rounded, single-button cuffs, and a contrasting patch pocket that is bold, handsome, and classy. In addition to all the beautiful details, the shirt is cut from some of the most beautifully refined cloth. It is dense and smooth to the touch and light and airy to wear. If that isn’t enough, it took about two seconds to figure out that this shirt fits not just well, but perfectly.
As far as the pant is concerned, it is another example of sartorial excellence. It is crafted from a stunning steel blue fabric and features contrasting single-needle stitching with bar stitch reinforcements for the front pockets. These plain front pants are cut to rest just at or below the waist, and like the shirt, the fit is perfect. Because of this perfect fit, It should be noted that going commando in such light, close-fitting trousers is not recommended unless exhibitionism is your thing.
8/Omokase is really onto something here. Executing such great fitting clothing is no small feat. Doing it by remote control is borderline incredible.
Additionally, these garments, if purchased anywhere else would set you back at least $250 each, and wouldn’t come with matching scarf and socks like this delivery did. And this happens not once, but twice per quarter for $300. Simply stated, 8/Omakase is the easiest way to fill a wardrobe with beautiful, custom-made clothing for about the price of a really nice shirt. Awesome.
