With the IVI Sepulveda, it was love at first sight. That browline! Those chunky and lustrous frames! That Mazzucchelli 1849 acetate! Seriously, folks, the entire IVI collection for men, and especially the Sepulveda, is some of the coolest eyewear ever reviewed for this column.
Sunglasses exist for two reasons: To protect the eyes from the damaging rays of the sun and to make the man wearing the glasses look cool. IVI glasses do both of these things to the extreme.
In addition to all the oohs and ahs generated by the browline, frames, and gorgeous acetate, the Carl Zeiss UV400 lenses make the world a nicer thing to see and therefore a nicer place to be. These lenses erase glare and replace it with clarity. This clarity also comes with a view on the world where it appears as if the temperature has been turned down. It’s kind of hard to explain, the view is not just clear, it is like high-definition crisp, cool, and clear.
What is kind of amazing is that the rest of the glasses are as good as the lenses and the way they look. The handcrafted frames are stunning. The matte finish of the frames makes them glow softly in just about any light. This luster is softly contrasted by the brushed black of the temples, and where they both meet there is a handsome, gleaming seven-barrel hinge that looks and feels like it was designed to last for years.
Available in five colorways with a price ranging from $170 to $220. For more information about the distinctive eyewear from IVI, click here.
